additional tests for women

If the cause of your infertility cannot be identified through the previously outlined and relatively straightforward fertility examinations, your doctor might advise you to undergo some more extensive examinations. A decision to undergo further tests might possibly be a bit discouraging, but as tests are completed and disorders excluded, you are, at least, steadily moving closer to a diagnosis.

For women, further tests generally involve a closer examination of the reproductive anatomy, including the uterus, the fallopian tubes and the ovaries. Most doctors take the time to explain these procedures to their patients. However, it is always useful to collect as much information as possible so that you are better prepared for them. The information in this section relates to these additional examinations:

  1. Transvaginal ultrasound
  2. Sonohysterogram
  3. Hysterosalpingography
  4. Hysteroscopy
  5. Laparoscopy
  6. Endometrial biopsy
  7. Immunobead test
