cryptoorchidism
Cryptoorchidism is said to occur if the testicles did not descend into the scrotum around the time of birth as normal. The condition is usually associated with variable degrees of impaired sperm production. Although undescended testicles can be surgically corrected, the chances of restoring normal fertility are low.
symptoms
If no correction has been carried out, the scrotum feels empty.
cause
The cause of cryptoorchidism is unknown to date.
treatment
Corrective surgery is usually performed when the man is a young boy. However, surgery cannot always restore normal sperm function. Moreover, the operation may itself contribute to infertility.
