immunological infertility (antibodies)
Immunological infertility does not occur very often, but is slightly more common in men than in women. The male immune system can react to its own sperm as though they were invading cells (such as an infection or cancer). The immune system then attacks the sperm causing infertility.
symptoms
Although it seems as though no infection is present, a previous infection that was not completely destroyed may still be dormant in the body.
cause
At this moment the cause of immunological infertility is still largely unknown. Those men who have been sterilised and have then undergone a reversal operation, often produced antibodies as a result.
treatment
The treatment for this condition varies from administering drugs to assisted reproduction techniques.
